Contribute your unused fabric to help make the piece! We are making a fabric vortex and we need a lot of materials! We are looking for cotton, sheets, pants, and non-stretchy fabric in all colors and/or patterns. Donations of sewing tools such as needles, thread, and scissors would be greatly appreciated too. Recycle your fabrics into a spectacular piece of collaborative art!

Can craft items have the same cultural reverence as contemporary minimalist sculpture?

Today I am starting a new collection of work that is all about DRIPS. Below is a photo of me in the studio laying next to the wall hanging ….I am hoping to make this a larger piece on a building. Or smaller ones…various sizes…hmmmm.

It’s funny,  because this reminds me of the Damien Hirst shows at all the Gagosian galleries. It’s so sad that they are only showing the dots. What a bland collection of his work. I have seen people post images of patterns they have found at Target that emulate his dot paintings.

I enjoy color. I believe that it can evoke feelings of excitement and awe. In the circle-dot paintings, I see conformity, lack of rule breaking, and the keeping of the status quo. How dull. How sad. …I guess we can acknowledge that Hirst has made color lame. How depressing. Well, screw him and his boring dot paintings. He’s a rich dot. A boring rich dot.

Here is a short video of an on-the-street view of Future Phenomena in Greenpoint Brooklyn. The piece was up for 3 days and was sponsored by NBArt, Brooklyn Arts Council, local volunteers, and more!
